Revelation is a prophecy about imminent events – events that were about to break loose on the world of the first century. Revelation is not about nuclear warfare, space travel, or the end of the world. Again and again it specifically warns that “the time is near!” St. John wrote his book as a prophecy of the approaching destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, showing that Jesus Christ had brought the New Covenant and the New Creation. Revelation cannot be understood unless this fundamental fact is taken seriously.

Ok, so if the book the revelation is not a prophesy of the end of the world and it is indeed talking about the destruction of Jerusalem; then do you not think that there will be an end to the world? I'm just finding it hard to fathom that revelations is not about the end of the world, it goes against all my prior teachings. Do you think that God will come back at some point? According to your views, what will the end times be like?
There will be an end of the world. Scripture talks about a new heaven and a new earth. Scripture also talks about no more death, decay, crying or pain. The old order of things will pass away and a new one will come. Paradise lost will become paradise restored. I believe this will happen at the end of history whenever Christ wants to return. I don't believe Scripture gives us any time frame references for Christ's second coming.
We DO get time frame references for the tribulation referring to the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem referred to in Scripture as Christ's "coming" in judgment like Matthew 24:34.
